Sprang weaving is one of civilizations oldest weaving methods. The coastal natives of the Caribbean basin and the South American Rivers used this process to produce fishing nets and hammocks, and the root word for hammock in the Caribbean was "hamaca" - Taino word for fishing net and in Venezuela was "chinchorro" -Juajiro  word for fishing net.
