Mayan Sprang-Weave Hammocks
Information |
The Mayan or Yucatan hammock is a sprang-weave Mexican hamaca from Merida in the Yucatan. Details Sprang-Weave Process As Merida was the worlds epicenter of sisal (henequen or cabuya) fiber marine ropes, it was natural that those fibers were used in early Mayan hamacas. Although hammocks with the sisal fibers are still produced, today's Mayan hammocks are mostly made with colorful nylon string. These brightly-hued nylon string hammocks are strong and lightweight and are the one's most tourists bring back from their visits to the Quintanaroo section of Mexico. Shop Mayan Hammocks
These are the most economical of the sprang-woven hammocks - great for the beach and camping, or for carrying in the car trunk for spur of the moment rest-stop use.
